One could argue that commitment rings are the most personal adornment. Worn on hands, hands that carry things, open doors, shake other hands, wave hello and goodbye. Everyday rings must be practical to the wearer's lifestyle. They ought to be comfortable enough for daily wear that the wearer is not tempted to take them off. How to make such a choice? With so many possibilities it can, at first, be daunting. Try breaking it down into the following 3 main categories.
1) What Metal(s)? Gold, Platinum or something else?
If Gold: 10k, 14k, 18k, 20k, 22k; White, Yellow, Rose or Green gold.
2) Gemstones or None?
If Gemstones: Diamonds, Sapphires or something else? The gemstone should have a Mohs hardness of at least 8 to stand up to daily wear.
Natural or Lab Created stones?
What shape shall the gemstone(s) be, and how would your like them to be set
3) Style: Classic or conceptual? Is there any story or personal symbolism you would like woven into the design?
Design Technique: Some possibilities include Married metals (mokume gane); hand-engraving, carved and cast; fabricated from raw metal.
What is your ring size? The fit should be comfortably snug. Do not use at-home sizing methods that are bandied about online, such as the piece-of-string method. I have found these to be wildly inaccurate. Email me info@peggyskemp.com for your free at-home ring sizer or get sized in person at your local fine jewelry store. Bare in mind that wider rings will need to be a larger size than slim rings to fit comfortably.
What is your budget? It is great to come to the table with a number in mind. If there is some flexibility there, the budget might change before an order is placed, based on the design you land on.

White gold is an alloy, a mixture of two or more metals, comprised of pure fine gold with either nickel or palladium
Your jewelry can grow in value over time when it is properly maintained and cared for. The manner of care depends on what metal and gemstones are contained in the jewel in question.
