The original Anatomical Heart Locket, by Peggy Skemp features a 1.5"x .75"x .5" (metric: 3.25cmx 1.7cmx .90cm) anatomically correct human heart which opens to reveal a meticulously detailed interior. It is pleasantly solid in cast and fabricated .925 silver, available in polished or antique finished silver. The locket is held shut by the trunk of the aorta which acts as a functional and secure snap. It hangs on a wheat chain, the fine striations of which mirror the beautiful musculature of the heart. The chain attaches to the pendant by threading through the superior vena cava and left pulmonary vein, causing the heart to hang slightly anterioinferiorly, as it does within the human body. It is an heirloom-quality conversation piece which delights the anatomically-inclined wearer.
Each piece is hand made with care in the USA. We implement sustainable studio practices, casting in recycled silver (nickel-free) which has been assayed for purity. The hinge and snap are entirely hand fabricated, and the piece is carefully tested and hand polished before shipment to you. There is a small silver tag on the end of the chain with the makers mark PS.
You must select your chain length and desired finish before proceeding to the checkout. The first photo is of the antique-finished locket. The second photo is of the brightly polished locket, which will take on the antique finish over time. The locket comes gift-wrapped with a complimentary polishing cloth for the care of this heirloom-quality jewel.
