The anatomically correct heart locket is an intimate sculptural scientific illustration that invites exploration. It is pleasantly solid in cast and fabricated recycled .925 sterling silver. The anatomically correct human heart locket is held shut by the trunk of the aorta, which is hand fabricated to act as a secure snap, and opens to reveal a meticulously detailed interior. It hangs on an 18" wheat chain, the fine striations of which mirror the incredible musculature of the heart. The chain attaches to the pendant by threading through the superior vena cava and left pulmonary vein, causing the heart to hang slightly anterioinferiorly, as it does within the human body. It is a conversation piece which delights the anatomically-inclined wearer.
Each piece is hand made with care in the USA. The hinge and snap are entirely hand fabricated, and each locket is carefully, repeatedly tested and hand polished before shipment to you. There is a small silver tag on the end of the chain with the makers mark PS. You will receive the locket with a small yellow polishing cloth so that you can keep it polished for years of wear. It is available either brightly polished or antique finished, (main photo is antiqued, second photo is brightly polished.) If you would prefer the antique look, simply make a note at checkout and allow a few extra days for finishing. With wear, your solid silver locket will eventually take on the antiqued look naturally.
Dimensions of the locket: 1.5"x .75"x .5" (metric: 3.25cmx 1.7cmx .90cm)
